Simulation Clinic Benefits

Patient Simulation Equipment Accelerates and Improves Learning

Patient simulation equipment accelerates and improves learning by providing the best “practice patients” in dental education history. From day one, students become accustomed to the complicated realities of patient care without having a live patient present. Completely equipped with essentials such as an air/water syringe and lifelike mannequins, Simulation Stations create a realistic clinical environment. Students learn instrumentation use and proper body positioning while refining their manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Through live demonstrations via video and digital imaging from a central computer, the instructor can reach every student—close-up and personal.

Patient Simulation Equipment Enhances and Optimizes Teaching

Using patient simulation equipment, students learn with less supervision and make smoother transitions to treating real patients.  Computerized training identifies which students are ready to move into patient clinics, and which need more personal attention.  Instructors are able to focus on individual improvement.  Advanced Simulation Station computers provide immediate feedback on tooth preparations, allowing students to maximize training time.  Additionally, computer evaluation minimizes subjectivity in the grading process.

Patient Simulation Equipment Enriches Continuing Education

Students aren't the only ones who will benefit from these School of Dentistry improvements.  The Simulation Clinic will also be available to participants in our continuing education classes.

You can contribute in a variety of ways to this exciting new addition to the School of Dentistry.  If you have questions about which method of giving is right for you, feel free to contact us
