Clinical Practicum in Geriatrics and Long-Term Care

Dates and times to be arranged.

Would you like hands-on experience working with older adults or special needs patients in long-term care facilities? Would you like one-on-one instruction from the experts in geriatric dentistry?

Individualized rotations are available for those dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists or dental assistants who want actual experience with treating older adults or special needs patients. You will work side-by-side with university faculty and staff providing a variety of dental care in long-term care facilities. This unique opportunity will allow you to apply your knowledge from the Geriatric Miniresidency and advance your skills in working with geriatric patients. Individual help will be available in many areas including medical risk assessment, treatment planning, clinical procedures, preventive care, communications and informed consent, behavior management, radiographic techniques, and documentation of dental services.

Prerequisite: Completion of Miniresidency in Nursing Home and Long-Term Care for the Dental Team.
