Dental Hygiene Refresher: An Online & Hands-on Program

Face-to-face, Hands-on Component: Monday-Thursday, May 9-12, 2016
ONLINE LEARNING COMPONENT
You must complete the 10 hours of self-paced, online instruction and quizzes between Monday, April 11, 2016 and midnight (CST) on May 8, 2016. Doing so allows faculty to focus their face-to-face time with you enhancing your clinical skills in the care of live patients. You will receive an email notification of the online course content being open/accessible the week prior to April 11, 2016. Course director Kari Kuempel, L.D.H., B.Sc., will provide you with a list of items to complete within the online environment. You will have a chance to “meet” Kari in her online introductory/welcome video, and again when you arrive for the face-to-face component. Access to the online course content will begin on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 8 a.m. CST.

SCHEDULE FOR THE FACE-TO-FACE COMPONENT
Final registration will begin at 7:30 AM on Monday, May 9, 2016.
Continental breakfast will be available during registration on Monday and on each subsequent day.
The program will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday; 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM** on Tuesday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday; 8:00 AM to 5:15 PM on Thursday.
Refreshment breaks and lunch or dinner will be included each day.
** Please note: the Tuesday, May 10th session begins at 12:00 PM and runs until 8:00 PM in order to gain access to the Radiology Clinic. Please plan accordingly.
If you have special dietary needs or are disabled and have special needs, please contact us at least two weeks prior to the program date.
WHAT TO WEAR
We suggest that you bring a jacket or sweater to help you adjust to the seemingly inevitable changes in meeting room temperature.
A full refund will be issued if you cancel at least 30 days before the program. If you cancel less than one month prior to the program a $395 processing fee will be deducted from your refund. For registrations charged to your credit card the refund will be credited to your account. No cash refunds will be issued on charged registrations.
Clinic attire must include long pants and closed-toe leather shoes. If you prefer to wear clinical scrubs, do so; but it is not required. The School of Dentistry will provide over-garments that comply with OSHA standards for infectious disease control and general safety. Non-latex gloves and masks will also be provided. If you have special glove or mask needs, please bring them with you. Also bring loupes, glasses, or other eye protection with side shields. Safety goggles will be available.
The School of Dentistry will provide patients and instrument kits for the clinical sessions involving patient care.
Parking is available in the Washington Avenue Ramp The Washington Avenue Ramp is located at 501 Washington Avenue SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455.
You will need to push the button on the stationary box in order to receive a parking slip and activate the gate. Detailed instructions for exiting the ramp will be provided during the program. Parking charges will be billed to Continuing Dental Education.
If the ramp is full or EVENT PARKING is in place, please inform the attendant that you are attending a Continuing Dental Education conference in the School of Dentistry.
PLEASE NOTE: If you park anywhere besides the Washington Ave. Ramp, you will be responsible for the parking fees.
The Commons Hotel Guests Only: If you are staying at the Commons Hotel, we encourage that you make parking reservations directly with the hotel. We cannot validate parking for overnight stays. Validated parking is only available during course hours.
Hotel accommodations are available at the Commons Hotel, located directly across the street from the Dental School. To reserve your room at the special Continuing Dental Education rate:
- Call the Commons Hotel at 612-379-8888 and ask for in-house reservations. Tell the reservationist the dates of your stay and that you want a room under the reservation for “Continuing Dental Education.” Ask the reservationist to enter your name for one of the rooms at the special Continuing Dental Education rate.
- If you are outside the United States or do not wish to call, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the dates you intend to stay and ask to have your name entered for one of the reservations under “Continuing Dental Education.”
