Dental Hygiene Refresher: A Hands-on Program

Monday-Friday, May 4-8, 2015

Are you thinking of returning to clinical practice and need to refresh your clinical skills? Are you currently in practice but would benefit from individual help with instrumentation, radiographic techniques and other aspects of treatment?

This powerful, patient-based continuing dental education program will give you the confidence to return to dental hygiene practice or simply build on your existing skills with patient treatment. You will obtain clinically relevant information and skills that you need to know for today’s traditional dental hygiene practice. You will enjoy working with supportive and experienced clinicians/teachers and also with fellow dental hygienists. All patients, supplies and instruments will be provided.

Benefits/Objectives

You will learn how to:

  • determine which medical/dental concerns will affect your patient treatment.
  • provide clinical patient assessment including oral cancer screening, probing and dental charting.
  • identify the dental caries and periodontal risk and health status of your patients.
  • determine a dental hygiene appointment plan based on individual risk and current conditions.
  • select the most appropriate home care products for each patient.
  • maintain instrument sharpness.

You will also gain patient experience with:

  • instrumentation (hand and ultrasonic).
  • digital radiographs (full-mouth and bite-wings).
  • other routine protocols, including medical history evaluation, patient charting, and infection control.
