Would you like to satisfy your core competency requirements for Minnesota relicensure in just one day? 

This in-demand continuing dental education course offers you the ability to obtain your required core competency credits in just one day. You will appreciate the variety of subjects and new speakers as well as the opportunity to gain unbiased information from experts in their respective disciplines. The 2016 fall program will feature updates on: 1) HIV and hepatitis, 2) AAP’s periodontal disease classification system, 3) recordkeeping for the pediatric patient, and 4) communicating with patients contending with significant health challenges.

Benefits/Objectives

All members of the dental team will benefit from learning how to:

  • identify and manage the most common oral opportunistic infections associated with HIV disease.
  • determine the extent and severity of chronic periodontitis in patients.
  • recognize the most frequent omissions when documenting a pediatric patient visit.
  • apply effective communication approaches with patients experiencing serious health problems.

Dentists, dental therapists, hygienists and assistants who would like to fulfill their core competency requirements for Minnesota relicensure and obtain concise and practical updates.

Grishondra Branch-Mays, D.D.S., M.S., Associate Professor, Division of Periodontology; Director of Interprofessional Education, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry; Diplomate and Board Examiner, American Board of Periodontology.  

Teresa L. Fong, D.D.S., Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry; Fellow, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry; Diplomate, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Fong has been in full-time practice with Metropolitan Pediatric Dental Associates since 1988.

David A. Reznik, D.D.S., Chief of Dental Services and director and founder, Oral Health Center, Infectious Disease Program, Grady Health System, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Reznik has been providing oral health services to people living with HIV disease in the Atlanta area for nearly 30 years and is founder of the HIV Dental Alliance.

Drew A. Rosielle, M.D., Medical Director, Palliative Care Program and Program Director, Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program, University of Minnesota Medical Center – Fairview, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
