New Materials, Technologies & Laser Training - Postgraduate Program in Contemporary & Esthetic Dentistry: Level III

Would you like an unbiased assessment of dental materials and technologies available today? Would you like to attain laser certification?

Learn how to get the most from contemporary materials and technologies. Master clinician/teachers will show you how to select and use the new generation restorative materials and incorporate CAD/CAM and laser technologies into your practice. You will benefit from intensive training in the interpretation of cone beam CT images and in the use of soft tissue lasers. This small-group course will give you the attention and tools to position your practice as a contemporary restorative and esthetic practice in your community.

Benefits/Objectives

You will gain the background and skills to:

  • identify the best choice of materials for your patients with an understanding of the latest adhesive and composite materials.
  • increase longevity and prevent sensitivity with your composite restorations.
  • identify when cone beam CT scans are indicated for implant or other restorative needs.
  • interpret cone beam CT scans using i-CATVisonTM software.
  • integrate CAD/CAM technology into the practice of dentistry.
  • identify how the use of lasers can expand your restorative care.
  • incorporate lasers into your daily practice—laser certification is included with this module.
Who Should Attend

Any dentist who wants practical training in soft tissue lasers and greater understanding of the new dental materials and technologies. This course is an elective module in the "Postgraduate Certificate Program in Contemporary Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry."

Educational Methods

Illustrated lectures, demonstrations, laboratory workshops, round table case discussions, and interactive CT scan interpretation.

Course Instructors

Mansur Ahmad, B.D.S., Ph.D., Associate Professor, Division of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis and Radiology, Department of Diagnostic and Biological Sciences, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry; Diplomate and President, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

John Graeber, D.M.D., Certified Laser Educator; full-time general and cosmetic practitioner in East Hanover, New Jersey who is recognized nationally for his expertise in lasers in dentistry. Dr. Graeber has written several articles on the subject of high-tech dentistry and has provided lecture and hands-on laser courses during the last 15 years for many dental schools as well as for the major dental meetings around the country. Dr. Graeber has performed more the 25,000 laser procedures and trained over 2,000 diode laser owners. He serves on the Board of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and is Associate Editor of the Laser Section of the Yearbook of Dentistry.

Paul S. Olin, D.D.S., M.S., Director, Dental Implant Program; Associate Professor, Division of Prosthodontics, Department of Restorative Sciences, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Dr. Olin maintains an active prosthodontic and esthetic dentistry practice. He has extensive clinical experience with porcelain veneers and dental implants as well as with several other areas of esthetic dentistry. Dr. Olin is the Director of Postgraduate Programs in Contemporary & Esthetic Dentistry Levels I-III at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

Jorge Perdigão, D.M.D., M.S., Ph.D., Professor, Division of Operative Dentistry, Department of Restorative Sciences, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Dr. Perdigão is actively involved in the research of new dental materials mainly in the area of dentin bonding and new composite resins. He has delivered over 150 lectures in Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America and has published over 100 scientific articles in international journals. Dr. Perdigão is a consultant for several manufacturers worldwide in the development of new adhesive dental materials and serves also as a consultant to the ADA Committee for Scientific Affairs and to the Federal Drug Administration.
