You can fulfill your core competency requirement for Minnesota relicensure by attending this convenient course.

This popular continuing dental education course gives every member of the dental team an efficient way to obtain all needed core competency credits in one day. You will receive timely information from several experts that will keep you up to date with current standards and help prevent medical, legal and ethical problems. The Spring 2014 program will focus on the following core competency areas: 1) diagnosis and treatment planning, 2) recordkeeping, 3) management of medical emergencies, and 4) ethics.

Benefits/Objectives

You will gain practical tips on how to:

  • utilize caries detection technology based on the latest evidence.
  • determine when to watch, remineralize or restore carious lesions.
  • reduce your malpractice liability risk through informed consent.
  • identify predisposing factors for medical emergencies in the pediatric patient.
  • recognize and manage pediatric medical emergencies in the dental setting.
  • select an ethical course of action for issues faced daily in dental practice.

Dentists, dental therapists, hygienists and assistants who would like to receive clinically focused updates and meet their core competency requirements for Minnesota relicensure in one day.

Speakers

Patrick J. Foy, D.D.S., practices general dentistry in the Minneapolis area as owner of Riverside Dental and Creekside Dental in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Dr. Foy has served on the ADA’s Council on Ethics, Bylaws and Judicial Affairs and the Taskforce on Evidence-Based Dentistry.

Gary H. Hildebrandt, D.D.S., M.S., Associate Clinical Dental Specialist and Director, Division of Operative Dentistry, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry; part-time practice in Princeton and Savage, Minnesota.

James R. Miller, D.D.S., M.S., Board Certified Orthodontist in private practice at Advances in Orthodontics, P.A. in Golden Valley, MN; Adjunct Associate Professor, Division of Orthodontics, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

Jeffrey M. Karp, D.M.D., M.S., Clinical Associate Professor and Director, Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry, Division of Pediatric Dentistry, University of Minnesota School of Dentistry; Diplomate, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
