Susan Dittmar is a Teaching Specialist in the Division of Dental Hygiene. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1975 as a restorative functions dental hygienist and immediately joined the dental hygiene faculty at the University of Minnesota.
Susan’s teaching has focused on preclinical and clinical dental hygiene and dental materials. In 2005 she developed and taught the restorative functions course for dental hygienists. She has served on numerous committees and practiced clinically one day a week in a periodontal practice as a dental hygienist. She has taught numerous continuing education courses at the University of Minnesota and at Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University in Greifswald, Germany. She was a visiting faculty member for one year at Fones School of Dental Hygiene in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She has received many teaching awards from her students. Her current teaching focuses on preclinical and clinical education.
