Education / Training:

Institution   Degree   Year   Field of Study
University of Minnesota   BS   1972   Dental Auxiliary Education
(Dental Assisting Education)
University of Minnesota   MPH   1986   Public Health
(Dental Public Health)

Research Area / Interests:

Pathogenesis of abfractions: determine whether occlusal stress, toothbrush abrasion, or both are etiological factors for the development of non-carious cervical lesions (abfractions).

Toothbrush biomechanics: use strain gage technology to clinically measure the pressing force, stroke frequency and dynamic stiffness involved in toothbrushing.

Correlate clinical and in vitro data through the transfer of new state-of-the-art technology into the clinical setting.

Test the Virtual Dental Patient software developed by Dr. Ralph DeLong through his NIH/NIDCR grant. The VDP software is a computerized simulation of a dental patient that creates accurate 3D renditions of the jaws and teeth.

"A Digital Environment for Teaching Oral Anatomy - a Student Oriented Approach" - a teaching aid for Oral Anatomy students. It allows the students to manipulate computerized 3-D models of individual, anatomically correct teeth.
