    The Fairview Foundation teamed with dental hygiene students at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry to apply fluoride varnish on the teeth of 350 children and provide oral health education to families throughout the fall semester.

    School of Dentistry, Rice Memorial Hospital Partner for Success

    In 2005, Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar approached the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry for assistance in meeting the growing oral health needs of the area. Today, the Rice Regional Dental Clinic serves patients in a 17-county area. Watch a video documenting this partnership.

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is the state’s only dental school, and the only dental school in the northern tier of states between Wisconsin and the Pacific Northwest. As such, we are a regional resource to five states for dental education, consulting services, patient treatment, and ongoing continuing dental education. We educate general dentists and dental specialists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, dental educators and research scientists. School of Dentistry launches Dental Hygiene – Dental Therapy dual degree program

The School of Dentistry now offers a unique dual degree program in dental therapy and dental hygiene. Effective Fall 2016, students will be able to earn a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and a Master of Science in Dental Therapy. The new 32-month program will provide students with all of the coursework needed for state licensure as a dental hygienist and an advanced dental therapist.
