Prospective Fellows

The MinnCResT Program provides fellowships for highly qualified post-doctorates and DDS/PhD students. Fellowships and training are also available for graduate (PhD) students, post-DDS PhD trainees, and post-DDS MS in Clinical Research trainees. Fellowships for PhD students are extremely limited. Interested graduate students should contact the Director or Assistant Director prior to applying.

Financial Support
All fellows receive a stipend plus financial support covering the cost of tuition and course fees, health insurance, and research-related expenses and travel. Support is available for 8 years for DDS/PhD trainees. Postdoctoral trainees receive support for up to 3 years and predoctoral trainees may be supported for 5 years.

Training requirements
All trainees, regardless of program, are required to:

  • Attend courses and seminars to be knowledgeable about the scope and state-of-the-art in craniofacial, dental, and oral health research;
  • Attend weekly research seminars in their major fields;
  • Attend and participate in the monthly MinnCResT seminar program, which is followed by a catered dinner with the speaker and a roundtable discussion;
  • Attend MinnCResT symposia held in the Spring and Fall; and
  • Train in the responsible conduct of research.

PhD students and postdoctoral fellows are minimally required to audit at least 6 credits in Oral Biology (or equivalent).

Postdoctoral fellows must enroll for 6 graduate credits in the University of Minnesota's Center for Teaching and Learning Services.

Fellows and their mentors submit annual progress reports and receive regular feedback from the directors and Steering Committee. This process ensures academic and research training excellence and integration with the mission of the MinnCResT program.
