Exploring Dentistry in Rural Minnesota
Dentistry in rural Minnesota was the topic of the evening on Wednesday, October 4th. Dr. Jim Zenk and Dr. Richard Moen, along with their spouses, addressed the topic at an informal gathering of 60 dental students and their spouses/significant others. As they enjoyed a great meal catered by Fat Lorenzo's, the students learned what life as a dentist is like in a small community and the many benefits to living and raising a family outside of a major metropolitan area. Drs. Zenk and Moen answered a wide range of questions, varying from the comparative overhead and fee schedule of a rural practice to how life in a small town affected their spouses' professional life and their family life. Mrs. Zenk and Mrs. Moen graciously addressed their respective roles in their spouse's practice and the students were able to speak with each of them on an individual basis after the presentations.
