Students Poster Presentations in Moos Tower

The hallway on the 2nd floor of Moos Tower bustled with student activity beginning at 11:30 on April 28, as dental students set up a series of informational posters and answered questions of passers-by.

These were first-year students of the spring semester's Prevention and Oral Health Promotion class in the Division of Community Oral Health. The students worked in groups of about seven on assigned topics. Over the course of three or four weeks, the students investigated topics related to oral health.

The poster presentations on April 28 were by students who developed a health promotion or oral disease prevention program. The following Thursday, April 30, students who visited community-based oral health-care sites presented posters showcasing their observations and assessments of the sites.

Subjects included in the posters for April 28 were:

  • Mitigating pediatric fear and anxiety in general dental practices
  • Bulimia in college-aged women
  • Toothbrushes and other hygiene aids
  • HIV self-screening
  • Obesity and oral health
  • Promoting healthy beverage consumption
  • Bottled water and fluoride
