Mansur Ahmad (Oral/Maxillofacial Radiology) was identified in the 12/20/09 Star Tribune article as one of two expert witnesses called upon to confirm the ages of two children relocated to the U.S. from India for adoption by a Minnesota couple.

Paul Schulz (Primary Dental Care-Outreach Program) was interviewed about the dental school‘s outreach programs for articles in the Montevideo American News and the Clara City Herald. The articles were prompted by a visit by the ―UCare Tooth Care mobile dental unit to Montevideo, December 7-11, 2009.

The School of Dentistry’s dental therapy program was featured in an article on minnpost.com.

Dan Shaw (Dev.-Surg. Sci-Pediatric Dentistry) was interviewed in the School of Dentistry Pediatric Dental Clinic for a story about children‘s dental health that aired on WCCO news at 5:00 p.m. on 1/12/10.

Peter Berthold and Judith Buchanan were interviewed in the Minnesota Daily for a story about about learning with technology; the story featured the School of Dentistry simulation clinic.

Sheila Riggs (Primary Dental Care) authored a blog article about health care costs in the Twin Cities Business Magazine on January 19.

Sheila Riggs, School of Dentistry, authored a Twin Cities Business Pulse Check blog post about the public reporting of health care quality measures.

Brian Peters (third-year dental student), Dean Patrick Lloyd and Dan Shaw (Pediatric Dentistry) were quoted in a 2/8/10 Minnesota Daily article about Give Kids a Smile Day. Peters is the School of Dentistry student coordinator for the event, held February 6.

Nelson Rhodus (Diag/Biological Sciences-Oral Medicine, Diagnosis & Radiology) was featured in a PV Update educational webcast about Sjogren's syndrome.

Craig Selden and Dan Shaw, School of Dentistry, were quoted in a Star Tribune article about the University’s dental discount. The article was also published on Dentistry iQ’s website.

Dean Patrick Lloyd was referred to in a March 1 American Dental Association news article about a forum that brought 22 representatives of the ADA and American Dental Education Association to ADA Headquarters in January to talk about educating new members of the dental team. Dean Lloyd was a presenter at the two-day forum.

The Simulation Clinic was featured in two-page photo spread in the spring, 2010 issue of the Minnesota Foundation publication Legacy. The School of Dentistry was mentioned in an article in RDH Magazine regarding research that shows low-carb diets can lead to bad breath, also known as Low-Carb Oral Malodor (LCOM). The school was also mentioned in the same magazine about the use of a new type of toothpaste that is less abrasive.

Patrick Lloyd, Judith Buchanan, Donald Simone and Jill Stoltenberg, School of Dentistry, were quoted in a Minnesota Daily article regarding the senior administrative staffs’ decision to take voluntary salary reductions.

The Native American Community Clinic (NACC) was featured in a story in The Circle, reprinted on the Twin Cities Daily Planet.

Patrick Lloyd (Restorative Sciences) was quoted in an article about the school’s new dental therapy program which appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal.

James Nickman, School of Dentistry, was mentioned in the San Francisco Business Times, Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal, and several other publications for his induction into the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry board of trustees.

Alex Fok (Developmental/Surgical Sci-MDRCBB) was referenced in a Minnesota Daily article about U.S. Department of Energy grants to two University professors.

Mark Herzberg (Diagnostic/Biological Sci-MinnCresT) and Bryan Michalowicz (Developmental/Surgical Sci-Periodontology) were featured in a MinnPost article about studies that have found a relationship between oral health and diabetes. Herzberg was also featured in The Observer about research findings that link poor oral hygiene and heart disease.

The School of Dentistry was mentioned in a Minnesota Daily article about the University’s budget cuts.

Nelson Rhodus, School of Dentistry, was quoted in an Interest Alert, PR Newswire and News Blaze article about equipment used for diagnosis of oral diseases.

The School of Dentistry was mentioned in a West Central Tribune article about dental students seeking rural training opportunities at Rice Regional Dental Clinic.

Sheila Riggs, School of Dentistry, wrote a Twin Cities Business blog about Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s decision against immediately enrolling low-income childless adults into Medicaid.

The School of Dentistry was mentioned in a WGGB-TV and Yahoo News Canada article about urban scrubs camps, which engage high school students in health care opportunities.

Research by Louis Mansky and Christine Clouser (Diagnostic/Biological Sci) and Steven Patterson (Center for Drug Design) were featured on MSNBC, ABC Chicago, WMBF News, the Star Tribune, and several other publication. Their research identified two drugs that, when combined, could potentially treat HIV.

Gary Hildebrandt, (Restorative Sci-Operative Dentistry), was featured in a WCCO-TV’s Good Question segment (11/1/10) about the role of candy and genetics in causing tooth decay.

Louis Mansky, School of Dentistry and Medical School, was featured in a Post-Tribune news article for his research which identified two drugs that when combined could potentially treat HIV.

Robert Jones (Developmental/Surgical Sci.-Pediatric Dentistry) promoted the School of Dentistry patient clinics and children‟s dental health in live interviews on KMSP TV and KARE 11.
