Nelson Rhodus inducted in the AHC Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Congratulations to Nelson Rhodus (director of Oral Medicine/Diagnosis) who was selected as one of two individuals to be inducted in the AHC Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in its inaugural year. National experts from research institutions in the field of scholarship of teaching and learning in the health professions reviewed all nominees. Final award nominees were selected based on their evaluation and recommendations.

Barbara F. Brandt, assistant vice president for education, wrote to Rhodus, saying: "Without exception, the excellent award nominations we received this year reveal the extraordinary contributions faculty, such as you, make to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Your contributions and commitment to education are an incredible asset to this institution."

The Academic Health Center Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning serves as the highest recognition of excellence in the AHC educational mission. Those selected have contributed to developing a culture of learning by demonstrating a sustained and recognized commitment to teaching and student learning through innovation, creativity and dissemination of scholarly works and are known nationally and/or internationally for their expertise in health-related fields. The academy will provide leadership to strengthen teaching and learning in the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center.
