Oral Care for Older Adults in long-term care DVD

Oral health for older adults just got a new tool: an educational DVD! Steve Shuman and Peg Simonson of the University of Minnesota's School of Dentistry's Primary Dental Care-Oral Health Services for Older Adults Program co-created a recently-released educational DVD, "Growing Old with a Smile: Oral Care for Older Adults in Long-Term Care." Shuman and Simonson co-wrote the script and supporting educational materials, provided technical support, and are featured in the DVD, which was filmed at the School of Dentistry's Walker Methodist Health Center outreach site. The DVD was released on February 24. Funding for the project was provided by a Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) grant to the dental school’s Oral Health Services for Older Adults Program. The DVD will be widely distributed to nursing homes and caregiver groups by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Dental Association.
