School of Dentistry annual research day
We had a great turnout at the Seventh Annual Research Day on March 4. Highlights included a keynote presentation by Martha Somerman, dean of the University of Washington School of Dentistry, who studies the key regulators controlling development and maintenance and regeneration of tissues that form the dental-oral-craniofacial complex. Twenty-four students presented their research findings in poster presentations.
School of Dentistry faculty presenters providing an overview of their research included Raj Gopalakrishnan (twisted gastrulation protein), Mohammad Islam (stem cells from teeth), Brent Larson (3D orthodontic treatment simulation), Wook-Jin Seong (dental implant research update), Michael Rohrer (Hard Tissue Research Laboratory), Massimo Costalonga (tridimensional crestal bone levels); and Bryan Michalowicz (advances in periodontal research).
