Willmar Clinic Receives $250,000 Grant

The dental clinic at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar took a giant step forward last week when notice was received of a $250,000 “Innovations in Dental Education Grant” from the Minnesota Department of Health. Dr. Paul Schulz, Director of Outreach, and Dean Lloyd traveled to Willmar on Monday, August 7, to meet with Rice Memorial Hospital Director, Lawrence Massa, to discuss the next planning steps. The hospital-based clinic will provide service learning experiences for dental and dental hygiene students, enhanced access to care for underserved and uninsured Minnesotans, and unique interprofessional training opportunities for dental, medical, nursing and pharmacy students.
