Workshop for future employers of dental therapists

In 2008, the Minnesota legislature authorized the licensure of a new dental provider called a dental therapist, and dentists around the country are watching with interest as the School of Dentistry’s first class of dental therapy students prepares to graduate in December 2011.

On Friday, January 14, the School of Dentistry offered a workshop for future employers of dental therapists, as well as anyone who wanted to learn more about the legislation and how dental therapists can work as a member of the dental team.

Participants reviewed the dental therapy legislation and scope of practice, learned about the School of Dentistry‘s education program, reviewed the components of a collaborative management agreement, and more.

The session was videorecorded with class capture software.
