New patients

Information for new patients

After calling 612-625-2495 to schedule an initial appointment to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry clinics, you will need to bring forms and certain information with you to your appointment.

If you have an emergency after regular hours, please call 612-273-3000 and ask for the dental resident on call.

What to bring

For first-time patients of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, please bring the following information with you to the 7th floor of Moos Tower.

What to expect

At your initial screening appointment, a third- or fourth-year college graduate predoctoral student will examine you under the supervision of a faculty member, who will check every part of the procedure. After the examination, a determination is made whether your treatment needs qualify you as a potential teaching case.

If you qualify, you probably will be assigned to a dental student within a comprehensive care group for further treatment. You may also be referred to one of the School of Dentistry's graduate clinics.

Fees at the student clinics are typically 30% less than private practice dentists outside the School of Dentistry. Payment is expected at each visit. The School of Dentistry accepts cash, credit cards, and CareCredit dental financing. The School of Dentistry accepts most private insurance plans as well as Medical Assistance and Minnesota Care. Please call 612-624-6110 or click here for more information.
