Cleft and Craniofacial Clinics

The Cleft and Craniofacial Clinics at the University of Minnesota specialize in evaluating and treating people with conditions affecting the head, face and dentition. We provide care for children and adults with cleft lip and palate, and many rare and complex craniofacial conditions. Our care optimizes the facial appearance, speech, craniofacial and dental development, and quality of life for individuals. Treatment includes expert surgical care, but truly takes a team, built on a trusting relationship that emphasizes the whole person from birth through adulthood.

Our teams, are dedicated to providing the best possible outcomes and care for children and adults affected by cleft and craniofacial anomalies. Our teams are certified by the ACPA and include surgeons, physicians, dentists, nurses, speech therapists, audiologists, psychologists and researchers who are leaders in the care of children and adults. We use state-of-the art imaging and treatment techniques to achieve the best possible comprehensive care. The University of Minnesota has been an international leader in interdisciplinary care for these conditions for the past 50 years.

Measuring outcomes is a critical part of ensuring success for our patients. We participate in the Americleft Project, a multi-centered collaboration supported by the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and Cleft Palate Foundation. In addition, team members have active research in their specialty areas.

Our Services include team evaluations, inpatients and outpatient care at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and the School of Dentistry. Prenatal and pre-adoption consults are also available. Request an appointment today or contact us for more information.
