Master of Dental Therapy Program

A one-of-a-kind program

**The Master of Dental Therapy Program is no longer admitting new students. The new Bachelor of Dental Hygiene/Master of Dental Therapy dual degree program will begin in Fall 2016. The admissions cycle for the entering class of 2016 will open in January 2016 - for more info please continue to check this website as the admissions cycle approaches.

Students in the Master of Dental Therapy Program will be among the first in the nation to graduate in a newly created career path. The year-round, 28-month master’s degree program prepares graduates to assume roles in many different health care environments, such as private general dental practices, group dental practices, and community clinics. The program is the only midlevel provider education program in the country that is affiliated with an accredited school of dentistry. Students take several courses with dental and dental hygiene students, and all students learn together in School Dentistry clinics, which model a general practice. Graduates of the Master’s in Dental Therapy Program will be eligible for licensure as Dental Therapists upon program completion and for credentialing as Advanced Dental Therapists (ADT) in the state of Minnesota after fulfilling the required 2,000 hours of documented dental therapy practice and completing a comprehensive exam through the Board of Dentistry.
