Doctor of Dental Surgery/Master in Public Health

DDS/MPH Dual Degree Program

The University of Minnesota’s DDS/MPH program offers the unique opportunity to integrate the practice of dentistry and public health to identify and solve community health problems in areas of oral health. This program is jointly offered by the School of Dentistry (SOD) and the School of Public Health (SPH). Both degrees can be completed in five years. One of the key features of the dual program is that 14 credits from the DDS curriculum may transfer to the MPH, saving students valuable tuition cost and time. the majority of the School of Public Health courses are available online allowing students to complete courses anywhere with an internet connection.

Students will matriculate into the School of Public Health for the first year (fall, spring, summer). Students defer admission to the School of Dentistry until they have completed at least one year of required SPH coursework. Students may only be active in one academic plan in any one term.
