| The post-graduate program in orthodontics was established in 1947. With a history of teachers consisting of Edward H. Angle, Charles M. Bailey, Thomas D. Speidel and Robert J. Isaacson, Minnesota has established itself as one of the originators of the orthodontics profession. Our current dedicated faculty members, Dr. Brent Larson, Dr. Suzan Ekim, Dr. John Beyer, Dr. Jim Miller and Dr. Ben Pliska have strived to continually develop the program and facilities to provide an exceptional educational experience. |

 The University of Minnesota Division of Orthodontics is committed to educating orthodontic residents in the principles, methods and biology of the field of orthodontics to comprehensively prepare individuals to practice orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Graduates will gain an in-depth knowledge of craniofacial growth and development, biomechanics, biomaterials, biomedical and clinical sciences and their application to a wide variety of orthodontic techniques and clinical situations.

 The orthodontics residency is proud of its commitment to research and continual advancement of orthodontics. As part of the educational experience, students complete a Masters Degree program through the Graduate school. The Division of Orthodontics is committed to instilling sound principles of research methodology and promoting attitudes for the advancement of orthodontics.

| The University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry (SOD) is a hub for several graduate programs. With students pursuing specialty training in Orthodontics, Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, TMD/Orofacial Pain and an interdisciplinary craniofacial/cleft lip and palate clinic, the SOD is able to provide cross discipline education and simultaneously meet the complex needs of patients. |
