The Doran Lab

We are a multi-disciplinary laboratory interested in understanding the molecular-level events that underlie neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Our long-term goals are to diagnose and stop disease progression using novel chemical and biological molecules. Research Summary/Interests

We have three research projects that aim to better understand molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration. The goals of these projects are to 

1. Characterize and exploit the adaptive immune response during Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. 

2. Develop small molecule probes for intractable pre-amyloid oligomers for imaging agents. 

3. Clarify the role of neurotransmitters and pigment aggregates during aging and neurodegeneration.
