School of Dentistry

First-year dental, dental therapy and dental hygiene students received their white clinic coats on Friday, September 18, in Northrop Memorial Auditorium in a White Coat Ceremony.

In a clinical setting, professional attire evokes the trust and respect of patients. The awarding of white coats at the beginning of each student's professional education is intended to impress upon these future practitioners the significance of that trusting relationship and celebrate the student's commitment to the goals of professionalism, ethical practice, scientific and technical expertise, and compassionate service to others.

Dan Rose, D.D.S., former School of Dentistry faculty member and immediate past president of the Minnesota Dental Association, served as the event’s keynote speaker.
