School of Dentistry and UCare Mobile Dental Clinic make national TV debut

Mobile Dental Clinic

The Big Ten Network (BTN) visited the School of Dentistry in November 2017 and filmed aboard the UCare Mobile Dental Clinic as part of its video story about research, outreach projects and "cool things" happening on the University of Minnesota campus.  The video was broadcast on-air and is posted on the BTN website.

The UCare Mobile Dental Clinic is one of 14 School of Dentistry outreach sites where senior students treat patients under faculty supervision.   The mobile clinic was created in a public-private partnership between the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and UCare, an independent, non-profit health plan based in Minnesota.  The partnership makes possible clinical education experiences for dental and dental hygiene students and much-needed oral health care services for patients in underserved communities throughout the state.

The "dentist's office on wheels' is a fully equipped, wheelchair accessible and state-of-the-art dental facility.  The 43-foot vehicle features three dental chairs, chairside radiography equipment, and an electronic health record system.
