Sheila Riggs named to prestigious Minnesota Business list

Minnesota Business magazine named Sheila M. Riggs, DDS, MS, DMSc, Chair of the Department of Primary Dental Care at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, to its The (Real) Power 50 list.

Riggs and 49 others will be honored at an awards gala on April 27 in Saint Paul and featured in the May 2017 edition of the magazine.

According to Minnesota Business, the list honors those in industry who are able to get things done and help others do the same. Honorees were nominated by previous (Real) Power 50 members and the magazine’s Editor Advisory Board. Those nominees were then vetted by the magazine.

“The (Real) Power 50 is an incredible collection of influential business people,” said Minnesota Business Editor in Chief Steve LeBeau. “They are the movers and shakers in our business community, the kinds of people everyone wants to know.”

In addition to her role as department char, Riggs, an Associate Professor with the School of Dentistry, helps lead policy initiatives for the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center and is a former President and CEO of Dental Dental of Minnesota.
