University of Minnesota School of Dentistry professor Mark C. Herzberg, DDS, PhD, was recently elected vice president-elect of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR). His term will begin following the conclusion of the 47th AADR Annual Meeting on March 21-24, 2018.
Herzberg, who serves as Director of the Minnesota Craniofacial Research Training Program (MinnCResT), has been part of the AADR since 1974.

Every year, after the Century Club Professor of the Year recipient has been announced at the Star of the North Dean’s Reception, the Office of Academic Affairs holds a celebration dinner for all distinguished faculty who have been awarded Professor of the Year since its inception in 1968. Stephen Shuman, associate professor in the Department Primary Dental Care was the 50th inductee for 2016. The gala was held October 16, 2017, and hosted by Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Keith Mays in the Heritage Gallery at the McNamara Alumni Center.

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry helped raise more than $86,000 for cancer research at the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center at the Chainbreaker bicycle ride on August 11-13.
The School of Dentistry Peloton featured 73 riders and the Lytic Cycles had 13 riders for the trip through Minnesota. More than 30 School of Dentistry volunteers anchored two rest stops, registration tables and helped in many other capacities throughout the weekend.
