Dental School Preparation Programs
High school and undergraduate college students can get a head start on dental school with two unique programs:
The Office of Admissions and Diversity is holding the School of Dentistry Open House: Explore Dental Careers for high school and college students on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Programming for high school students will be from 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and college students will attend in the afternoon from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. Activities for both groups include hands-on dental simulations, information sessions, and an opportunity to connect with current students, faculty and staff in our dental hygiene (BSDH), dental therapy (BSDH/MDT), and dentistry (DDS) programs. Lunch will be provided for all participants.
Building Bridges to a Career in Dentistry provides students from under-represented and disadvantaged communities with an opportunity to develop the skills needed to compete, enter, and graduate from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. As part of this program, we offer an intensive Summer Dental School Experience.
Dental School Prep Course
Spend a weekend in the shoes of a dental student, receiving instruction from dental school professors and completing exercises learned in dental school. Course participants have a great opportunity to use the DentSim units, which are the most advanced simulation interactive multimedia learning environment for dental training and practice.
The Pre-Dental Club is a University of Minnesota undergraduate club for students interested in dentistry. The group hosts monthly meetings, volunteer opportunities and speakers. This club is affiliated with Student Union and Activities (SUA) at the University of Minnesota. For questions about the group, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
