Dental school's public-private partnership attracts international attention

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry welcomed Dumas Ting, CEO of China-based Golden Meditech Insurance Group, to the University of Minnesota Pediatric Dental Clinic, Made Possible by Delta Dental of Minnesota on February 9. Ting was in Minneapolis to learn more about the clinic operations and the public-private partnership between the University and Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation that helped launch the clinic in 2012. A past CFO of Shanghai during the rapid growth and development of the city in the 1980s, Ting now focuses his interest on the development of the health insurance market in China. He was accompanied to the clinic by Rod Young, President and CEO of Delta Dental of Minnesota, and several foundation board members, including School of Dentistry alumnus Mike Zakula, DDS. Interim Dean Gary Anderson, DDS, MS, greeted the group and Clinic Director Jeff Karp, DMD, MS (Dev/Surgical Sci-Pediatric Dentistry) hosted the clinic tour and answered questions.
