Grant support for dental school outreach site

Native American Community Clinic Dental Clinic

The Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation awarded a one-year $100,000 (renewal) grant to the Native American Community Clinic (NACC) Dental Clinic to increase access to oral health care for Native American children in the clinic's service area. The project will 1) utilize a dental assistant/community health worker to increase the number of pediatric patient visits at NACC Dental Clinic and to continue to improve integrated medical/dental care at NACC as part of the NACC Medical Clinic's well-child and other pediatric visits; and 2) increase dental, dental therapy, and dental hygiene students' exposure to the target population during their clinical rotations at the NACC Dental Clinic.

The NACC Dental Clinic is a non-profit Community Health Center/Federally Qualified Health Center that has been serving Native Americans and others in the Phillips neighborhood and Twin Cities metropolitan area since 2003. NACC’s mission is to promote wellness and health maintenance in Native American families, decrease health disparities in Native Americans in the metropolitan area, and provide care regardless of ability to pay. The dental clinic at the Native American Community Clinic will serve as a unique dental education training site for dental, dental hygiene and dental therapy students in their final year of training.
